Welcome to the Ministry of Energy and Petroleum.
The Ministry of Energy and Petroleum was established through Executive Order No. 1 of 2025 with the mandate of formulating and implementing policies that promote sustainable, affordable and reliable energy and petroleum services in Kenya.
The Ministry oversees the development of renewable energy resources, petroleum exploration and distribution, energy efficiency, and rural electrification programmes aimed at supporting economic growth, industrialization and improved livelihoods.
Through innovation, strategic partnerships and responsible resource management, the Ministry is committed to enhancing energy security, expanding access to clean energy, and positioning Kenya as a regional leader in sustainable energy development.

State Departments
